Student projects focused on SS.6-8.WGGS.25 (Investigate a current global issue and propose a course of action to solve it) often involve creative products like posters that require art materials and colorful printed pictures, charts, and graphs. Poster boards and poster-sized paper, glue sticks, highlighters, and markers are all items that my students frequently use when creating such projects.
This project will also support a COVID-related learning need in my classroom by providing cleaning and safety items that will help to ensure a safe and healthy in-person learning environment conducive to students’ social emotional and academic development. Face masks, disinfectant spray and wipes, tissues, and an air purifier will keep my class safe and healthy so that learning is not interrupted.
Finally, a simulation learning game (Pandemic) will help students solidify their understanding of SS.6-8.WGGS.19 (Analyze the use of conflict and/or diplomacy in global interactions) by encouraging them to make choices that investigate cooperating or creating conflict in regards to a disease spreading throughout the world.
