Hands-on resources, such as touch-to-read sentences, will benefit both the higher learners and, in due course, those who still strive to learn their letter names and letter sounds. Resources selected specifically address the differentiated needs within my classroom. These resources will be used for letter and letter sound recognition in a small-group setting, as well as for the recognition of beginning, medial, and endings sounds, and for blending and segmenting words. These strategies will build the skill of using touch-to-read sentences in order to scaffold learning to greater reading experiences.
Opportunities for choice within center activities, or learning stations will allow for students to select an activity of interest that will help them to build on literacy skills.
My students range in ability, as most classrooms do. All students require instruction to meet their needs, and each resource selected will benefit literacy instruction.
