This year my students chose to revamp a courtyard at school that has been neglected for many years. With the help of our school principal, we have spent hours pulling weeds, planting new grass, installing a drip sprinkler system, and shoveled in 4 planters of fresh garden dirt. Our class vision is to provide a beautiful garden area, filled with native Nevadan plants, for the whole school to enjoy. Part of this project includes researching drought tolerant plants as well as learning to take care and maintain the area. The materials on our wish list will help to make this place inviting and give all students at our school a garden to reflect, read, or simply enjoy the outdoors.
