This mix of books are an array of interests, cultures, abilities and personalities. This mirrors our 5th grade class. 5th graders are in the middle of finding themselves before junior high. These books will help them enjoy reading, while at the same time, finding characters just like them. It will help them feel like they fit in and build their social emotional learning. Reading groups, conferences and conversations with the teacher will be more enjoyable when the students have chosen books that represent themselves. This will make reading more enjoyable. Please help our wonderful class with this idea!

About my class
