Having access to tools to support students as they transition back from hybrid and distance learning is crucial. Many of my students are English Language Learners, who need additional supports in class to re-engage in full-time, in person learning. Having a class laptop, notebooks, and books to add to our library will support these efforts.
Students need to feel connected in class, and the last year and half has left many students disoriented and disenfranchised from their own education. Having a laptop that connects to my document arm is a way to communicate and model writing for students who need it. Students need notebooks to journal, and may do not have the means to purchase basic school supplies. Having books for the class library that are high-interest can re-engage reluctant readers. Having these supplies will help to re-engage students who have been disenfranchised from learning opportunities, as well as support students' social and emotional well-being by processing their writing in their notebooks, and feeling more connected to in-person instruction.
