My second graders are bright, resilient, and eager to learn. Many come from low-income households, and several are learning English as a second language. Some have also experienced trauma at a very young age, which can make focusing on school challenging. Even with these obstacles, they walk into our classroom with big smiles, ready to grow, and determined to succeed.
