Small groups is a vital part of reading and writing intervention. In order for students to close the gaps in their learning, they need to work in specific skills which are targeted in individual small groups sessions. Small groups also help students learn the skills they have missed out on such as communication, sharing, team work, helping others. These skills need to be improved and developed during covid times as they have been virtual for two years and have missed out on these skills in the formative years. Small group activates requires students to work together on a reading or writing task. This encourages them to close their gaps in their learning and develop life skills that they will need outside of the classroom.
