Our students want to be able to read, but books at lower levels are difficult to find, and building a library of these books can be very difficult. We are hoping to help bridge the learning gap in our classroom by creating a reading library filled with class sets of books at lower reading levels to use in small group instruction. By using these books in small group instruction of 4 students and the teacher, we can increase the students' reading levels and allow them to read like their fluent peers. These books have been selected because they build a student's word base by using beginning phonics and high-frequency sight words.
