My students aspire to be leaders and teachers of their cultural traditional regalia. As they learn about traditional textiles they will then apply that knowledge to designing and sewing their own ribbon skirts and shirts. They will use this Cricut machine to cut different shapes to embroider onto their regalia and experiment with iron on vinyl on purses and other items.
The students will then be proud to showcase them at our School Pow Wow where they will educate visitors on the design and construction of their regalia.
These design, sewing, and teaching skills will have many applications in the future. They will then spend time on a reflection of their project that will include research and identifying future careers that these skills can apply to.
