Being a 5th grade teacher, it’s a struggle to get students excited about reading. But I have found that having multiple resources such as, comic books, magazines, along with traditional chapter books actually help. However, the digital resources available to students are limited and trying to get hard copies for each student can be quite costly. This donation would help bring all those resources into one entity for my students (especially during small groups) with the iPads and Kindle tablets they would be able to listen to their favorite books, audio books, magazines, even books in different languages, etc. Plus, they get a chance to hear what reading with expression sounds like, which promotes phonological awareness and comprehension.
