I teach a journalism class at a Title 1 School that includes students from all high school grades and backgrounds. They are a fervent bunch, and I do my best to teach them all I can with the limited journalism resources we possess. Photography is a huge standard and element in this course, but unfortunately, we are lacking an up-to-date school camera. Please help me teach students that pictures are more than just fuzzy selfies and memes taken with a cell phone!
While their phones can do more than I ever imagined they would be able to do, they still cannot replace the knowledge and professionalism that exudes from a trained photographer. Not only will having this camera in our possession provide better quality of photographs for our yearbook; it will also pique interests in our students regarding "fun" future professions.
