86% of the students in our school are English Learners and have limited skills with telling time and counting money. The standards that match these skills are all in the Measurement and Data strands of the NVACS Math: 1.MD.B, 2.MD.C, 3.MD.A-1, 4.MD.A-1,2.
As we continue to work with our students we have noticed that the essential skills of time and money need more time to develop these skills for their future in careers, or college. Getting these supplies will help all of our teachers have the manipulative devices to assist in teaching their students these important skills. Students will use these manipulative coins and clocks during our morning Walk To Learn time where we are able to focus on skills with small groups. Time and money have become our focus.
