In my class, manipulatives are a big hit! Therefore, I know having the multiplication cards and Power Pens will help my students with memorization. They can use these items during small breaks or when they are finished early with another task. Using the pens, will give them immediate feedback and the 鈥減ush鈥 to keep trying. In 5th grade, knowing your facts is crucial. Once they know all of the multiplication facts, they will have more confidence in math. Productive struggle is necessary, however struggling without productivity is discouraging. Therefore, I want to to create small victories for my students and knowing the basic facts will give them those small victories.
