My fourth and fifth grade media literacy students will be learning how to make storytelling videos, which involves creating rough storyboards with paper and pencil and then using a video-making software and chromebooks to make the videos. I'd like for my students to create their own paper and pencil flipbook animations before they ever touch a computer to create their own storytelling videos.
When students create their own paper and pencil animated flipbooks, they will gain a lifelong appreciation for how video and film are made up of a series of carefully sequenced images.
