This project will help create an environment where play is purposeful. Students will interact with one another in creative ways to promote opportunities for conversation, cooperation, and experimentation. Working together they can also build friendships by helping and sharing the various learning tools.
Social and emotional development are key to student success!!
Kids love to build and discover how to use ideas with each other. This allows them to create things they had never thought of before. By using these STEM items they can create and be social at the same time. Learning by play builds important motor skills required for cutting and handwriting. The books all serve specific social and emotional developmental skills the students need to practice and learn to be successful (RL1.4 . Identify words and phrases in stories or poems that suggest feelings.)
1st-grade students should be a place to learn as well as discover. This is an important time to build strong relationships with one another as they enter into a lifelong journey of exploring and learning. Through the items I have chosen for this project students will be able to reach these goals.
