My K-2 NYC district 75 class fell into my lap unexpectedly this school year, though I am excited to have been given this wonderful class my first year of teaching, I am unfortunately starting from scratch with very limited supplies. I would like to add culturally responsive books to my library that reflect my student's cultural identity; my students are very young so to keep them engaged and on task, I often use board games and art-driven assignments to instruct them. I also use the teacher pay teacher site to get access to materials from like-minded and talented educators who often help me to teach at my best and give my students age and developmentally appropriate teaching materials.
Working with students who are from a low socioeconomic background who has also been diagnosed with autism can be challenging but with your help, I can offer my students a happy, safe, well-founded, and welcoming classroom. Filled with books, games, art supplies, and face masks for their safety.
Donating to my class will help me to provide free access to books that will help promote literacy and also help motivate and keep them engaged and offer my students an opportunity to see themselves and their culture on the pages of their library books. The other materials will also help provide my students with a more equitable learning environment, your donation will help keep my students safe and enhance their learning capabilities.
