The return to full inperson learning has had a positive impact on students yet there are new challenges as well. In all of my classes from beginning level to advanced and AP I have noticed a significant increase in students' ability to focus. They require more movement, breaks from instruction or assignments. There is an increase in students who identify themselves as having anxiety and most have difficulty separating from their phones.
It is my hope that by offering them some flexible seating options and the ability to move while sitting, that they will feel less anxious and be able to focus better.
By removing some of the barriers to learning and supporting students' individual needs, they will have greater access to learning involved in standards VA:Cr1.HS.2II and VA:Cr2.HS.1II.
