Beginning in the spring of 2019 and Covid, we have provided our students with 1:1 technology with laptops however, headphones for learning are not provided. Due to Covid restrictions, students are not allowed to share headphones and are required to have their own. Partnering with many local organizations, students are provided every day school supplies and bookbags, however, headphones for learning are often overlooked and fall on the responsibility of each individual teacher or parent.
Having quality headphones available to all students will provide many of our students the opportunity to listen and learn both in the classroom and at home. Students use laptops for their daily lessons in math and reading. Laptops and headphones are used for individual and independent work, as well as for remediation and/or enrichment.
Teachers also use laptops in the content areas of science and social studies and often require the use of headphones for enriching activities. Having headphones for all learners will provide them with the opportunity for equitability in the classroom and academic success.
