Since COVID19 and the school closures have taken so many learning opportunities away from my special needs students, I aim to engage them in rigorous learning in a setting that provides fun, social interactions as we bridge the learning gap.
The items I am requesting for my project address multiple standards in reading, writing and math. Requested materials and activities will help students know and apply grade level phonics in decoding words (RF.2.3, RF.2.4, ), generalize and apply the learned phonemic patterns when spelling words (L.2.2.d) and write a well-structured paragraph with correct capitalization and punctuation (W.2.2, W.2.4, W.2.5, W.2.7, L.2.1, L.2.2, ).
I am requesting math materials to extend the counting sequence to 120 (1.NBT), increase fluency of addition/subtraction facts within 20 (2.OA.B.2), develop/use an understanding of place value to add and subtract within 1,000 (2.OA.A.1, 2.NBT.A.1, 2.NBT.A.2, 2.NBT.B.5, 2.NBT.B.7, 2NBT.B.9), work with time and money (2.MD.C, 2.MD.C.7), and reason with shapes and their attributes (2.G.A). Items requested will also support study and organizational skills.
Your generous contribution will help bridge the COVID learning gap, address unfinished learning, motivate and improve the pace of learning for my special needs students. Your contribution will have great impact for years to come as we build the foundational skills of these primary-grades, special needs students. Thank you so very much!
