In Pre-K, we spend most of our day learning through play. Students are learning about sharing, taking turns, and understanding boundaries. They are developing fine motor skills and beginning language and math skills. They are building conversation skills and self-help skills. All of this learning is done through play.
By giving my students access to train sets and building toys, art supplies and tactile materials, they will be able to develop these skills while working with their peers. These materials will help them access the Nevada PreK Standards such as P.PK.2 - explore and demonstrate how objects move, 1.PK.3 - identify letters in own name, 3.PK.1 - retell a story with the aid of pictures or props, 1.PK.1a - make independent choices from diverse interest centers or activities, and 2.PK.4 - identify color, shape, and texture through art experiences.
