High interest texts such as the ones I've chosen will provide my students a great way to build their love of reading. With a variety of texts to choose from, they will also be able to build critical reading skills that will prepare them for later grades. Students will be able to use these skills while engaging in authentic literature that is a mixture of classics and contemporary pieces. I have also selected such a variety of books that will allow students of all backgrounds and reading levels to enjoy. The following are a list of the standards I intend to incorporate and expand on within these novel studies. RL 2.1, 2.3, 2.5, 2.6, 2.10 SL 2.1
