These items will make a big difference for my students because they need a safe environment to express their thoughts and emotions. I will use these items to teach the students about mental health and coping skills. The brain model will help me explain to students how our brains work and what areas are responsible for certain behaviors and emotions. The zen garden helps with focusing and relaxing the mind. The stress relief toys will assist students who have anxiety or stress. These stress relief toys are tools I can use as a coping skill. The books are for students who want to read and learn more about mental health. I plan on letting the students borrow them when interested. The journals are for students who cannot afford one, so they can write and express their thoughts, feelings, and emotions. Meeting and talking with students requires a lot of sitting, so the chair is to help with being comfortable.
As a school social worker, providing a relaxing and safe space is important for the students' mental heath. These items will help me continue to provide that to all students who need me.
