They will analyze "vomit" at a "crime scene" and DNA at a "crime scene" to determine who committed a murder. To do this they need the chemicals to look for specific biomolecules and the gel bath to separate the DNA into segments and look for patterns.
I call this lab Meal and Murder. Students will have to first determine where the victim was killed (using the "vomit" ) and then analyze the DNA to determine who killed them. It connects genetics and biomolecules units from Q2 and Q3 of the NGSS
