Students will learn about life in a different country and how it could be applied in their daily life. By reading "Born, A Crime", by Trevor Noah, will impact my students in many ways. Trevor talks about his experiences growing up in South Africa during the end of Apartheid, starting off with very little to becoming a famous comedian. Students will read how he was able to navigate through tough times. Our country is experiencing a tough time with race relations, gun control and police brutality, as well as many other issues. Reading this book as a class will allow us to approach these issues in a safe environment. This will also give my classes a way to practice how to talk about uncomfortable situations in a respectful manner.
