Interactive games allow students to regain lost social skills that were already floundering pre-Covid year, but which were made worse during Covid year/ quarantine. It will allow students to increase their self-confidence which will, in turn, impact the rest of their academic classes and overall success.
My students are noticeably more engaged in their work and less disruptive of their peers when they are more self-confident and emotionally stable. I have seen how playing games and having fun can positively affect my students' work and demeanor and hope that the Donors Choose Project will help us grow emotionally/ socially, which is just as important as academic growth.
