The materials and supplies that I am requesting are beneficial for my students' transitioning, life skills, reading and sensory stimulation. My students are not only learning the academic skills in the classroom but as well as the basic life skills they need for independence.
My students on the Autism Spectrum need to be ready to seek meaningful experiences in the area of daily living skills and towards employment.
In our classroom, my students are learning the basic daily living skills such as preparing their own meal. We watch videos on how to prepare meals, follow instructions and practice it inside the classroom. Tools such as microwave oven and toaster would be very useful for their learning. The experience of preparing their meal and having appropriate tools to use would be very helpful in their learning process. I also assigned tasks to my students, one of the tasks would be to shred papers. It would be good to have the equipment in the classroom. I am requesting a flip chart stand and pads to use for my students practice reading. I write the words in the pads and routinely practice them read the words. Having the flip chart stand would give them easy access to practice reading the words written on the pads. They will use the calendar pocket chart for their schedule. My goal is to make my students discover things through hands on experience, thus I am as well requesting for Science experiment set. It will surely be full of fun activities for them!
The rest of the items that I am requesting will be for my students who need sensory toys to help them relax, focus and calm down.
My students are wonderful and they give me motivation to help and make them discover their strengths as individuals.
