The benefits of children painting are countless including color learning, fine motor development, being able to share emotions, and promote self esteem.
Bringing to life an acrylic painting is a fun and engaging way to introduce children to a new medium and a textured surface to broaden their experience in art.
The great thing about acrylic paint is that whatever the levels of artists they will work well on canvas. Acrylic paint gives the artist the ability to have a completed work of art in a relatively short period of time. I like to begin teaching students about acrylic paint with light introductory instructions to how acrylic medium can work or be used. I share a variety of samples so kids can see how acrylics might turn out, or different techniques that can be achieved on the canvas.
I encourage children to explore their own original technique whenever possible, after all there’s really no way to be wrong in exploring acrylic paint.
It’s important to me that the children I teach know exploration is good and Ok. I love to inspire them to be unique, or original in whatever they attempt to create.
