Middle school students face so many challenges. A lot of them need help negotiating the short and long term effects of decision making. My students will use these books to read about the journeys and risks Odysseus take in life. We discuss personal goal, challenges, and the importance of being resilient in trying times. The students have experiences in taking responsibility for actions and how decisions can affect others. These are lessons that can guide them in their personal lives. We discuss whether the journey or the goal is more important.
