The materials that I am requesting not only will help expand and build language for my preverbal students but it will encourage and hopefully motivate them in a fun way. My students will have access to these individual items in our library center. In this area we have a variety of books and puppets that they are able to explore and use. Hopefully with these added language tools we can play a game of "What's in The Box". This game allows each student to place their hand in a box and pull out an exciting toy that they can then label, gesture, make sounds or more.
This activity allows my students to connect objects with prior knowledge from home or school which helps build confidence and encourages communication. This activity will also target a variety of objectives in a fun and motivating way. It will also allow each student to learn new vocabulary in a none intimidating manner.
