Currently our student leaders stand in front of the class while they present, their body language shows their discomfort and while we teach lessons on adjusting posture, this is a hard feeling to mask for middle schoolers.
Lecterns and an easel will give them an opportunity to engage with tools that real life leaders use in public addresses, thus giving them time to grow comfortable with them. As our student are from low income households, an opportunity to be at ease taking up space is vital for their future successes. The lecterns also provide a seamless outlet for their discomfort as it serves like a physical distance between them and the audience.
