COVID closures devastated our classroom not providing equity that we so much needed. New technology has proven to be difficult as many students could not attend classes due to lack of knowledge and familiarity of different platforms and devices they were forced to use. While helping to minimize the daily wear and tear on my personal technologies that I bring into the classroom from home, this laptop and two adapters also serves as a learning device to teach students how to navigate platforms that we struggled with and continue to have difficulties with during the COVID closures.
This will greatly assist with keeping up with pivot from traditional classroom to online learning so students and parents are better able to confidently navigate the 'new way' of learning and keep our classroom thriving!
Of the many standards we cover, we suffered greatly Reading Foundational Skills (RF): R.1.1 Demonstrate understanding of the organization and basic features of print; RF.1.1a Recognize the distinguishing features of a sentence (e.g., first word, capitalization, ending punctuation); RF.1.3 Know and apply grade-level phonics and word analysis skills in decoding words; RF.1.4 Read with sufficient accuracy and fluency to support comprehension.
Thank you!
