As a first-year teacher, I am requesting classroom basics for my fourth-grade ELA class. I teach at a Title I school, and my students cannot provide necessities such as the reading and writing folders and notebooks that I am requesting. Classroom organization is imperative for students to spend their time learning, so much of my request is geared towards organizing supplies such as labeled book bins with color-coded folders and writing notebooks for readers and writer's workshops. I also need folders and notebooks to keep their notes, graphic organizers, and daily constructed-response assignments.
I have also requested items such as cushions to give the classroom reading library a comfortable feel and encourage students to read and requested treasure chest incentive gifts for the accelerated reading program.
I requested a few ELA games, including a game on making inferences which students are currently working on. I hope to provide my students with a warm and welcoming classroom environment that encourages them and provides them with the tools they need to meet their needs and aid me in delivering a standards-based curriculum.
