When the pandemic hit and all of teachers were forced to work from home, I found myself at a disadvantage. I was trying to teach Chemistry from a Chromebook. I have to teach my special education students in a general education setting how to understand the periodic table and draw an atom. I have to teach them how to balance equations, solve complex math problems, and how to name chemical compounds. Chemistry requires a lot of writing and it seemed impossible with a Chromebook in which my Elmo does not work on.
Now that we are back in the building, technology is not going anywhere because we have to be prepared for the worst. Plus, when students are quarantining for Covid, they ask for help and I must be able to provide it. By having a Surface Pro, I will be able to write directly on worksheets on Canvas and teach Chemistry with the use of technology. As a co-teacher I travel to different classrooms to provide services to my special needs students, and a Surface Pro will help me deliver instruction no matter the situation.
