These resources promote Nevada Academic Content Standards by mixing science and math concepts in a hands-on situation. The resources for this project will be used to create graphs to represent the rate of growth of the different types of sunflowers that each class period will grow. S-ID.A.1. Represent data with plots on the real number line (dot plots, histograms, and box plots). The students will begin the project by documenting their hypothesis on a dry erase board to show the class what they think will happen. The students will use the notebooks, pencils, markers, and the other writing and graphing materials to create drawings and record data of growth each week. I will use the different types of plant seed to show students how different plants grow at different rates. I will be using the water jug to be able to care for the plants and give them water every week. The tape, glue sticks, scissors, and other resources are used to assist the students in hanging pictures on the big sticky note paper. I will also have the stapler and pencil sharpener to assist the students with whatever they need. The plants will be growing on the trapezoid table near the window and interestingly enough plants can be used as a great tool for people to battle mental health issues. The students will also use the headphones to look up what possible ways they can speed up the plants growth. Every week I will discuss why we are taking care of the plants and relate it to how all of us as people should take care of ourselves. I will also explain to the students that plant growth are an amazing tool for the environment to help this planet heal while everyone in the world is healing.
