These VR headsets will allow my students to virtually visit many of the different locations that we will be learning about in our History course. Imagine the experience these students will have when they are able to visit Gettysburg when we learn about the Civil War, or visit outer space when we learn about the Apollo missions and the Space Race during the Cold War.
Without ever leaving the classroom, the students will be able to directly apply their learned material with the actual location. They will be able to understand many of the different components of history by using these VR headsets as a resource to recognize the impact that different events that have helped shape America. By learning about it in class, and then "visiting" it, the students will be able to create questions (SS.9-12.US.2) to help deepen their understanding of what they have learned. They will also be able to understand how these different events have helped to shape American identity (SS.9-12.US.15.).
