I had a great opportunity to substitute teach in my district last year and be in lot of different classrooms. I saw amazing resources that really made learning fun, engaging, and exciting, especially for younger students. I am a now new teacher! I have spent a lot of my own money and still haven’t been able to buy some of the resources that I know would have a huge impact on my students and in my classroom. I would love to be considered for funding to receive these important resources that I would start using with my students the day they arrived.
Teaching letters and sounds is essential to build a solid foundation for reading. Students sometimes need thousands of repetitions to learn letters and sounds and how to use them when they read and write. The Match-a-Sound games build these essential skills and make the same task of learning letters and sounds fun and engaging.
Math is a subject that is best taught with lots of hands on learning with manipulatives. The Base 10 Blocks make a new and confusing concept so much easier for students to master. Having manipulatives that match what they usually only see printed on paper is so important for all types of learners. A hundreds chart is so helpful in teaching number patterns and numeracy skills!
I would also like to receive a few things that would help me organize the activities that I have prepared so they are more accessible to my students like the photo and paper storage boxes, because plastic bags can be really difficult for little fingers to open. The color coded rolling cart would allow the students to quickly find their supplies, make the most of their time learning and return the supplies for other students to use.
