The common core asks students to read stories and literature, as well as more complex texts that provide facts and background knowledge in areas. Students will be challenged and asked questions that push them to refer back to what they read and be successful at it. This stresses critical-thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills that are required for success in college, career, and life. These prizes will motivate students to learn to focus on what they are reading and increase their overall Lexile level. Students are required to read fiction and nonfiction texts on similar themes and topics. Please help me get my kids focused on reading nonfiction and fiction text with a seventy-five percent or higher goal. I want to promote successful readers to seventh grade and I believe this can and will motivate them!
