Students in my class come in two categories: those who do not have access to their own supplies, and those who cannot remember to come with their supplies. It is disruptive when something as simple as lacking a pencil creates an unsurmountable barrier to their learning. My students often struggle with the academics they face every day, and each second in class with access to a supportive teacher counts. A pencil or pen at the ready means zero learning time lost.
By providing my students with basic classroom supplies, they will have the materials needed to be their best selves in my class and throughout their entire day.
