The color-coded carpet will make it easier for students to find his/her spot at the carpet. I have special needs students who need extra room and the larger carpet will allow such that.
In our classroom, students use chair pockets to keep their materials at bay but saves on work space in front of them. The homemade chair pockets I have now are worn and need repair constantly. This stronger material will last longer and keep me from re-sewing. The name tag space on the back creates an easy way for students to story their name, rather than taking up more space in their chair pockets.
