I teach middle school musical theatre. For many of my students, this is an introduction to theatre, their first experience on stage. Our semester long project involves the completion of a model theatre. It is usually made from a shoe box. The theatre includes seating, the stage, lighting, curtains, and backdrop. We continue this project by reading an one act play. Choosing one scene from the play, students design costumes and make up for characters. They also design the scenery and lights.
They come to school each day ready to try new things and take brave chances in order to grow both personally and academically. Truly, they are my inspiration!
