We have textbooks for our French students, but the articles, excerpts, and short stories within them are boring for the students. We want to promote a love of, and interest in, reading and practicing the language in class as well as outside of class. To do so, we need more fun, relevant books that keep students engaged!
No student wants to read a dry, boring book, so help us purchase new, engaging books to encourage students to want to read and improve their language skills. Tons of research and studies have shown how helpful reading in a foreign language can be to overall language acquisition.
Literacy is such an important skill for students to acquire and we want to help promote this and encourage this in multiple subject and content areas - it shouldn't only be in an English classroom where students are exposed to and expected to read books. We're asking for classroom sets of two different books. The books are centered on different topics but are both topics taught during the first two years of French. We would like classroom sets so students can read them in class without having to share books between students, and can also take them home to finish a chapter if students need additional time.
