As a first year teacher, I have not known my students long enough to say very much about them with absolute certainty. What I can say for sure though, is all of my students deserve an equitable educational experience, and that extended to the music classroom. All of the students at Wiley Elementary School love to play instruments in music. Despite the fact that we are currently the smallest elementary school in the district, we have an unequitable amount of classroom instruments.
With these 6 new instruments, students will be able to engage in more active music making in a way that appeals to them. Active learning leads to better transfer in any subject. Whether it is playing an Orff arrangement, creating an ostinato, or adding accompaniment to a story, these quality instruments will help students learn so much about music through creativity and experience. Not only will students be learning about music itself but they will also be collaborative and build valuable teamwork skills. Having these new instruments will enrich the student's learning experience in a fun and exciting way!
