My students have spent close to two years sitting in their homes doing distance learning, which for academic subjects may have been adequate but for Physical Education it was extremely difficult. Now that we are back in school I have noticed students are delayed in their motor and physical development as well as their decreased fitness levels. I love to use music when students are exercising to motivate and provide a steady beat for jumping rope. I have a background in Folk, Line and Square Dancing and it's been a few years since I've been able to utilize my music for dancing in PE.
In previous teaching positions I have organized Movement Assemblies where students perform PE and Dance activities for the parents and community members and this high quality speaker will be loud enough for assemblies yet small enough so as not to be intrusive in my small PE classroom.
The speaker I have choses has Bluetooth technology so I can start and stop the music from my portable device or phone from anywhere in the room.
In addition the basketballs will give students another option for play and movement during recess and PE and the mats will be used for fitness and gymnastics skills.
This donation goes toward the achievement of State Standard 3.5.2:
Demonstrate healthy activity patterns by participating in physical activity.
