Graphic novels and manga are in extremely high demand here in the library. Unfortunately, the current collection they have to choose from is insufficient to meet that demand. They are always disappointed by the lack of titles to choose from and their disappointment hurts me more than anything else. It is the role of the school library to meet the needs of its community, helping them to grow as lifelong learners and readers. I've sworn to my students that it is my top priority to improve the collection! Graphic novels benefit ALL readers! English language learners, reluctant readers, readers with learning differences, visual learners, and even advanced readers benefit from graphic novels. And since El Camino has such a diverse population, a quality graphic novel section benefits ALL of our students. Please consider helping our library with this project so that we can keep up with demand and support our students as the learn and grow.
