This will make a difference in my classroom for multiple reasons. As I teach U.S. History and Civics, debate and discussion are important. It allows us to express our views while still respecting others' opinions about our country, even embracing it. Our country becomes more divided each day, and so I love to teach that even though we disagree, it can help us grow as a nation.
We perform many debates in class, including about Supreme Court cases and modern day political issues. We also debate on historical events and how they have impacted our nation.
