My project is based on classroom resources that will benefit at-risk reading intervention students with several learning needs. The phones will provide a hands-on tool to build their fluency. In addition, the whiteboards and headphones are a major need in my classroom as my current ones have been used for years and we are in need of new ones. I also selected flexible seating options and a carpet to make my reading classroom more conducive to building reading stamina. I also selected additional books at a 2nd-3rd grade level that will still engage 4th-5th grade students.
This projects meet many Common Core reading standards, including:
CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RL.4.1
Refer to details and examples in a text when explaining what the text says explicitly and when drawing inferences from the text.
CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RL.4.2
Determine a theme of a story, drama, or poem from details in the text; summarize the text.
CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RL.4.3
Describe in depth a character, setting, or event in a story or drama, drawing on specific details in the text (e.g., a character's thoughts, words, or actions).
