My students have been using digital books for over a year in education. Although digital books have been a great asset during the pandemic, I would love to encourage my students to read more often by giving them an opportunity to physically hold the books that they have unfortunately have been deprived of since kindergarten. I have noticed that my students haven't been reading as much as I'd like for them to. I asked my students if they had any books at home, and it was a hard no. My heart broke. My students consist of early readers, struggling readers, english learner readers, english only readers, at grade-level readers, above grade-level readers, the whole nine yards! If I can give my students an opportunity to be successful readers, then I want to start by giving them the materials necessary for them to do so. Education changes day by day, but books are ever lasting. Reading should not be a chore, but an exciting adventure for my students. New ventures for them to learn, see, examine, and explore!
