The purpose of this mission is to ensure the maximum engagement of my students in all of their core classes. I teach social studies but I would like for my students to have flexible seating in all their classes. Our students appreciate flexible seating but unfortunately we have had a major influx of students due to a neighboring school that closed recently. This means there are currently less opportunities for our students to have the option for flexible seating. Having flexible seating provides students with the ability to increase their comfort, thusly increasing their engagement. When our students are more engaged, they perform better and collaborate more.
Providing flexible seating to our students will increase communication amongst students, build a stronger sense of community, and will allow for an enhanced commitment to learning. Building community is important in letting the students know you care for them and value their inputs. Students are more willing to take chances if there is a stronger sense of community. In sum, this will provide more opportunities for students to feel loved and appreciated. The feeling of being love and appreciated will translate to better performances from the students.
