Students are working on gaining job skills to help prepare them for life. They are learning to follow directions, increase work productivity and be more independent with fading supports.
Overall we recycle used paper and books from the high school and prepare them in a variety of ways for shredding. First, some students rip papers out of books or remove staples/tape from papers to prepare them for shredding. Then students work on counting skills by counting 5 papers and making a pile of criss cross papers so another student can grab 5 pages at a time (so as to not jam the shredders and shredding them until the bin is full. Finally, students empty the bin into bags for the local animal shelter to pick them up EVERY week for the puppies and other animals.
