When asking my students what they would like to see in the classroom to help with managing their time and workload boy did they have opinions and justifications to provide to you. Thank you for generation a real world writing and research project for my students with this grant opportunity. First, they wanted reminders that were colorful and bright but prefer to organize their tasks by subject and assign a color to that subject to track progress and task completion. As soon to be middle school students how could I object to that request. They would like to keep their writing in old school notebooks to show improvements over time. And with technology they need to change from any location in the room with COVID spacing restrictions charging areas need to adapt with that. Being mindful and having mental health reminders is encouraging them to voice their thoughts with staff to remain positive in an environment of great change not just in the present but in their future as well. Alexa takes communication between classrooms to the next level with in house paging and a quick answer to a question that helps with task completion with teacher is busy with another student. Doorbells for attention signals saves the vocal chords and is more engaging. They would like teachers to return to movement in the room with a remote that controls their computer they can do just that. And lastly they know math skills are essential and need to “Sharpen the saw” with math materials.
